Saturday night, we met some friends and their daughter for dinner at Huey’s. Saturday night means that there were a lot of people there. Petrea had an audience… She ordered chicken and papas (fries) and was being pretty good. She has no real volume control – takes after her dad in that department. Anyway, after she ate she told Mom that she had to go “potty.” So, they went to the restroom. The conversation continued at the table until it was broken by my sweet daughter’s voice halfway across the room, “DADDY! I GO POOPIE!”
What, pray tell, is the appropriate response? A hug and, “Baby, I’m so proud…”

I, as one of the friends at dinner, thought it was funny as hell.

Huey’s? Are you in Memphis? If so that’s pretty sweet.
My daughter has done pretty much the SAME exact thing at Huey’s. I don’t think anyone heard her because it was pretty loud but it made me feel so proud!
We’re about to have a daughter later this month so I’ll be in the same boat as you…in a house with three females…I’m slowly losing my hair.
I appreciate you stopping by the other day. My redesign is 99.9% complete. Check it out in the next couple of days and let me know what you think.

CONGRATULATIONS! I am really happy for you all. Good luck with all the estrogen. Just keep a copy of Bravheart or Fight Club or one of the Bournes around for help with testosterone replacement/rejuvination!
Yeah, we are in Memphis. Started following you and the blog when I did a search on Twitter for Memphis folks a while back. Thanks for stopping by!

I know this is an older post, but I was going through your blog when I noticed that your daughter calls fries “papas”. My kids call mashed potatoes the same thing.
My wife is from Panama, so the Spanish leaks out to them from time to time. I’ve even started calling them that too.

Wow, Panama? My wife spent a lot of time there – practically grew up in Panama. Her father was there with the Army Corps of Engineers. Small world, yeah? I call em papas now, too. I also picked up aye aye aye instead of booboo. Haha
